Biodiesel reduces levels of particulates, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and air toxins in diesel-powered engines. Biodiesel helps those engines by cleaning fuel injectors and lubricating cylinder heads. Any industry that relies on diesel-powered equipment would benefit by utilizing biodiesel fuel.

Biodiesel is also used as an additive fuel by school buses and mass transit bus lines, such as LYNX in Orlando, Fla., and Leetran in Lee County, Fla., that formerly used only petroleum diesel.

The sugar industry burns biodiesel as a green, renewable, sustainable substitute to fuel its boilers. Power companies across the country and throughout the Caribbean are utilizing biodiesel to generate electricity as a clean alternative to natural gas with low emissions. Paint companies are experimenting with it as a wood preservative and the agricultural industry is using it in aerial spraying, where the use of petroleum-based diesel fuel as a base is no longer permitted.
